Okay, so, I decided to do something kinda crazy – I tried to remake a Patek Philippe Gondolo 7041R-001 watch. Yeah, I know, it sounds nuts, but I was like, why not? It’s a really cool-looking watch, that classic style, you know? And I thought it would be a fun project to try out, a way to learn some things.
I started by looking everywhere for info about this watch. I mean, I looked at a ton of pictures, read some articles, and even watched some videos online. I wanted to get a really good idea of what it looked like, all the little details, you know?
Then, I started looking for parts. I went online, I looked at some shops, I even asked around. I didn’t want to buy any fancy parts, just some basic stuff that looked similar to the original watch. This took forever, to be honest.
Once I had all the parts, I started putting them together. It was like a puzzle, a really complicated puzzle. I used some simple tools I had at home, and I just tried my best to follow the pictures I had seen online. Of course, I made some mistakes, but I kept trying. I messed up a lot, had to redo some things a few times. It was tough, seriously, but kinda fun too.
Things I used:
- Some screwdrivers
- Tweezers (these were super helpful for the tiny parts)
- A magnifying glass (my eyes aren’t what they used to be)
- A soft cloth to keep things clean
The Hardest Part
The hardest part was definitely the movement, you know, the inside part that makes the watch tick. It’s so complicated! I tried to find a simple movement that was kinda like the real one, but it was still really hard to put it all together.
The Result
After a lot of work, I finally finished it. It took a lot of time, I’m not gonna lie. It doesn’t look exactly like the real Patek Philippe Gondolo 7041R-001, not at all, but it kinda looks like it, you know? It’s like, a rough version of it. And it actually works! Well, most of the time. Sometimes it stops, and I have to fiddle with it a bit, but it’s still pretty cool that I made it, right? I’m not gonna say I mastered anything, but hey, it’s something.
After all that hard work, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but it’s my little project. It was a good way to learn about watches and how they work. It was a real challenge, but it was fun too. And it’s a cool story to tell, right? Like, “Hey, I tried to remake a fancy watch once.” It’s a good conversation starter, at least. I am pretty proud of myself.
Would I do it again? I don’t know, maybe. It was a lot of work. But it was also pretty rewarding. Maybe I’ll try to remake a different watch next time. Who knows? Anyway, that’s my story.
