Alright, so I’ve been messing around with watches again. This time, I got my hands on a Patek Philippe Calatrava, the 5227R-001 model. Now, I ain’t made of money, so this is a remake, not the real deal. But let me tell you, this thing’s pretty darn close.
First off, I started by looking at the original. I mean, really looking. Pictures, videos, anything I could find. This 5227R-001, it’s a real looker. Simple, clean, but classy as all get out. You know, the kind of watch that makes you feel like a million bucks. It has self-winding, so you don’t have to bother with it. It also got a shock absorber.
Then came the fun part – getting my hands on the remake. I found a guy, knew a guy, who knew a guy… you know how it goes. Anyway, I got the watch. Box and papers, it all looked legit, even though I knew it wasn’t. The year of production is 2021.
Next, I took it apart. Now, I’m no watchmaker, but I’ve tinkered enough to know my way around. This remake, it’s got what they call a “movement.” Sounds like somethin’ outta one of them science fiction picture shows. But it’s just a bunch of tiny gears working together. I think this is a real beauty. The original is about 27mm wide, 3.3mm thick. Inside, they’re saying there are 212 parts and 30 jewels. For the remake, it is 2.55mm thick, has 164 parts.
I spent hours comparing it to the pictures of the real one. The weight, the feel, the way the light hits that shiny gold-looking case… it’s all there. And the strap, don’t even get me started on the strap. Feels good, looks good.
Putting it back together was a bit of a pain. Tiny screws, springs that wanna fly across the room… But I managed. And when I was done, I put it on my wrist. Felt like a new man. I even wore it to the grocery store, just to see if anyone would notice. No one did, but I felt fancy, and that’s what counts, right?
So, what’s the point of all this? Well, I just wanted to share my little adventure. This Remake Patek Philippe PP Calatrava 5227R-001 Original order, it’s like the real deal, but, you know, not as hard on the wallet. If you’re looking for something that looks like a million bucks but doesn’t cost nearly that much, this might be the way to go. Just don’t go around telling people it’s real, okay? That’s not cool.
Anyway, that’s my story. Hope you enjoyed it. Might do another one of these soon, who knows. Until then, stay classy, folks.
