Remake Patek Philippe 6119R-001: Is it Worth Buying from Official Flagship Store or Another Retailer?

Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119R-001 thing. You know, the remake, not the real deal. First off, I went straight to their official online store, just to see what the fuss was about. Man, those pictures make it look shiny!

Then I started looking around for places that sell these remakes. Found a bunch of them online, but it’s like a jungle out there. Some look pretty decent, others, well, not so much. I decided to take the plunge and ordered one.

When that package arrived, I ripped it open like a kid on Christmas. The watch was bigger than I expected, to be honest. I started playing around with it, winding it, setting the time, and all that.

Next, I got curious about how close it is to the real thing. I spent hours comparing it to pictures of the real 6119R-001 online, from their official website, squinting my eyes and looking at every little detail. The numbers, the hands, the little crown logo, you name it.

I even tried to take it apart, just a little bit, to see what was inside. But it looks like I have to use some tools to open it. I’ll keep you posted on that, once I get my hands on a screwdriver small enough.

  • I wanted to see that “750” mark they talk about, the one that shows it’s supposed to be 18k gold. Didn’t find it, though.
  • Also looked for that “950” mark for platinum, but no luck there either.

After all that, I wore it around for a few days, you know, just to get a feel for it. It’s a bit flashy for my taste, but I gotta admit, it does feel kinda fancy on my wrist. But I feel like it’s just a little too big for my wrist. I’ve been wearing it all day today, and I’m starting to feel like I have a small dinner plate strapped to my arm.

So, is this remake 6119R-001 worth it? I’m still on the fence. It’s definitely a lot cheaper than a real Patek Philippe, that’s for sure. But you get what you pay for, I guess. I’m thinking I might just keep it as a conversation starter, or maybe I’ll try to sell it online and see if I can get my money back.

This whole thing has been quite the adventure. I might try my hand at remaking another watch in the future. Maybe something a little less complicated next time. We’ll see.

You won’t believe how long I had to wait for this thing. It felt like forever! But hey, at least I got a story out of it, right?

Anyway, I will try to find some tools and open it up later. I gotta see what’s really going on inside this thing. I’m not expecting much, but hey, you never know. Maybe I’ll find a tiny little watchmaker in there, hard at work. Wouldn’t that be something?

Stay tuned for more of my tinkering adventures!
