OK, so I was messing around with the idea of grabbing one of those OMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon” watches. You know, the ones that look like they were made from a chunk of the actual moon.
First thing I did was to look around to see what kind of deals were out there. I saw something about getting a free gift if you buy an OMEGA watch, and some places were offering no deposit and some kind of finance deal. That sounded pretty good, but I wanted to make sure I was getting it from a legit place.
Shopping Around
- Looked for deals: Found some promotions, but wanted to be sure about the seller.
- Checked out the watch details: It’s got this cool see-through dial.
Then I started digging into what makes this watch so special. I learned that this particular Speedmaster is called the “Moonwatch” because, get this, it was actually worn on the moon! Buzz Aldrin, one of the astronauts, had this model on his wrist when he walked on the moon. How crazy is that? It makes sense why people say it is one of the most important watches ever.
Apparently, OMEGA has been making these Speedmaster watches since 1957, but this Apollo 8 version is something else. I spent a good chunk of time just staring at pictures of it. The “Dark Side of the Moon” name is because the watch looks like it is made of a piece of the actual moon. And, the dial is all skeletonized, which means you can see all the little gears and stuff moving inside. It’s like wearing a tiny piece of the moon mission on your wrist.
Learning About the Watch
- Found out it’s a “Moonwatch”: Because it was actually worn on the moon by Buzz Aldrin.
- Checked out the design: The skeletonized dial lets you see the watch’s insides.
After all that, I was pretty much sold. But, I took a step back to think about it some more. I mean, it’s not every day you get yourself a watch that’s been to the moon and back.
Making the Decision
- Decided I wanted it: But still thought about it a bit more.
So yeah, that’s where I’m at with this whole OMEGA Speedmaster thing. It is not just a watch, it is like a piece of history and I am excited about it.
