Remake Yves Saint Laurent YSL COLLEGE BAG: Is Specialty Stores Still The Best Choice For Shopping

Alright, let me tell you about this little project I got myself into. I decided to remake the Yves Saint Laurent, or as some folks call it, YSL College bag. Yeah, that fancy purse. Now, I ain’t no expert, but I figured, how hard could it be? It’s just a bag, right?

First off, I started by looking at a bunch of pictures of this bag online. It’s got this specific look, you know? Kind of classy, but not too flashy. I took notes of all the details – the way the leather looks, the metal chain, the whole shebang. It’s important to get these things right, or else it just won’t look like the real deal.

Then, I went out and got myself some materials. I found some pretty decent leather that looked similar to what’s on the original bag. It wasn’t cheap, mind you, but hey, you gotta spend a little to get something good, right? I also picked up a metal chain that felt heavy and solid. I heard that’s how the real YSL bags are, so I made sure to get something similar.

Now comes the hard part – putting it all together. I ain’t gonna lie, it was tough. I spent a good chunk of time just figuring out how to cut the leather properly. I messed up a few times, but that’s part of the process, I guess. You learn from your mistakes, and all that.

After cutting the leather, I started stitching everything together. This took some time, let me tell you. I used a needle and thread, just like the old days. No fancy machines here. It was slow going, but I wanted to make sure every stitch was just right.

  • Cutting the leather, made a few boo-boos, but got it right eventually.
  • Stitching it all together, my fingers got a workout, I tell ya.
  • Attaching the chain, now that was a bit tricky, but I managed.

Once the main part of the bag was done, I attached the metal chain. This was a bit tricky, but I managed to figure it out. I made sure it was secure, so it wouldn’t fall off or anything. The last thing I did was add the YSL logo, they say it’s the same now “Saint Laurent”. I found a metal piece that looked pretty close to the original and stuck it on there. I know that since 2012 they changed the name, but it is still the same, you know.

And there you have it, my homemade YSL College bag. It ain’t perfect, but I’m pretty proud of it. It looks pretty darn close to the real thing, if I do say so myself. Plus, I saved a ton of money by making it myself. Those designer bags can cost a fortune!

Was it worth it?

Well, it was a fun project, and I learned a lot. Would I do it again? Maybe, maybe not. It’s a lot of work, but it’s satisfying to create something with your own two hands. And who knows, maybe I’ll start a new trend – DIY designer bags! Just kidding, but hey, a guy can dream, right?
