Okay, so, I saw this YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG the other day, and I thought, “I gotta have it!” But then I saw the price tag… Ouch! So, being the crafty person I am, I decided, “Why not make one myself?”

First off, I needed to figure out what this bag was all about. Turns out, YSL, or Saint Laurent, they’re the same thing. Just that Saint Laurent is like the fancy, official name for the fashion stuff. I also found out they make these bags in Florence, Italy, using some really good quality materials. That explains the price, I guess!

Anyway, I started by sketching out the design. I grabbed some paper and a pencil, and just started drawing, trying to copy the shape and all the details of the bag. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a good start. Then, I went to my local craft store to get some materials. I picked up some leather that looked pretty close to the real deal, some thread, and a few other bits and pieces I thought I’d need. I already had some basic tools at home, like scissors, needles, and a ruler.

The steps I took to make the bag

  • First, cut the leather. I used my sketch as a guide and carefully cut out all the different parts of the bag. There were quite a few pieces!
  • Then, I started sewing. This was the hardest part. I’m not a pro at sewing, so it took me a while to get the hang of it. But I kept at it, and slowly but surely, the bag started to take shape.
  • After sewing the main parts together, I added the details. The strap, the buckle, and that little YSL logo. For the logo, I ended up using a metal charm I found online. It wasn’t the exact same, but it looked pretty close.
  • Finally, I put all the pieces together, and voila! My very own YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG was born!

It wasn’t easy, I’ll admit. There were times when I messed up and had to start over. And it definitely took a lot longer than I expected. But in the end, it was totally worth it! I’m super proud of how it turned out. It’s not exactly like the original, but it’s pretty darn close. And the best part? I made it myself! I saved a ton of money, and I got to learn a new skill along the way.

So, if you’re thinking about making your own designer bag, I say go for it! It’s a fun and rewarding project. Just be prepared to put in some time and effort. And don’t be afraid to make mistakes. That’s how you learn! It was a fun challenge, and now I have a cool bag to show for it. Plus, I can brag that I made it myself. Who needs to spend thousands when you can get your hands dirty and create something unique? That’s my motto!
