Today I got my hands on this CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon” watch. Man, I’ve been wanting to mess with one of these for a while now, and it finally happened. So, let me tell you how it went down.
First off, I started by just looking at it, you know, admiring the craftsmanship. This thing is a beauty. I mean, it’s supposed to be like the dark side of the moon, and they nailed it. The details are crazy good. I spent a good chunk of time just turning it over in my hands, checking out every nook and cranny.
Then, I got down to business. I carefully opened the back. You can see right through it, and there are these words around it: “Apollo 8, Dec 1968, we’ll see you on the other side.” That’s a pretty cool touch, I gotta say. It’s like a little nod to history right there on your wrist.
- After that, I started inspecting the movement.
- It’s called the 3869.
- Basically, it’s like a 3861, but they did this laser thing to it to make it look like the moon’s surface.
- I spent some time comparing it to pictures of the actual moon. I know it sounds kind of lame, but this is one of the main reasons I wanted this watch. It was fun!
I played around with the watch for a few hours, setting the time, winding it, and just wearing it around the house. This watch is not just a good looking watch, it actually is really good quality.
Final Thoughts
